Michel Lemieux

Multidisciplinary Artist

Biography

Michel Lemieux has been exploring the boundaries between live art, technology, and the imagination for over four decades. Trained at the National Theater School, he made a name for himself in the 1980s with memorable performances in Canada and internationally, before co-founding 4D Art in 1990 with Victor Pilon. Together, they have created major works such as Norman, Anima, La Belle et la Bête, and the Cirque du Soleil shows Delirium and Toruk.

The artist is also the creator of Cité Mémoire Montréal, the world’s largest urban projection project, as well as innovative installations such as Mur InSituParcours InSitu, and La dissolution de Lady Macbeth, presented in the exhibition Thierry Mugler: Couturissime. More recently, he has made a name for himself in virtual reality with works such as IntouchéInvisible, and Icarus, brought together in Espace 4D Art. His approach remains guided by a constant desire to link meaning, emotion, and innovation.
